Membership Process
In order for a family to join In Grace there is a membership process. This is designed for you to be certain that In Grace is a good fit for your family. The membership process usually follows these steps:
1 - Each interested family is encouraged to attend a Monday teaching day at In Grace. This lets you see what actually goes on at our co-op! Older children have often sat in on a class or two in order to get an idea of what it might be like. This also gives you an opportunity to meet some of the families and perhaps think of some questions for us that you might have missed. While this visit is encouraged, it is not mandatory.
2 - Review In Grace's Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Cooperative Agreement and Code of Conduct with your family. If you can sign these without any hesitation, you are ready to apply!
3 - Fill out the membership application which you can download from our website or fill out on-line. If you choose to download the application, either mail or e-mail the document to our Information Coordinator, ingraceinfo@gmail.com, who will handle it from there.
4 - When you mail/e-mail in your application we also request that you send a brief biographical testimony. Let us know how you came to Christ and a little about your walk with Him. A space for this is contained in our on-line application, but if you are mailing or e-mailing the form, you will need to include a separate document.
5 - We also require three personal references. References should be NON-family members and NOT current In Grace members. These reference forms are either able to be filled out on-line or are also downloadable and contain the return mailing address. Feel free to give out the direct link to those you select for your references.
6 - After we receive the application, biographical testimony and references, your family's name will be presented to our group.
7 - The final stage is a brief interview with a few members of our Steering Committee that allows them and you to get to know each other a little better. It is also an opportunity for you to ask some final questions. Please bring with you a check for $25 which is a fee for the required background check. At this interview we will also ask you to sign an authorization for the background check form. This is not something we enjoy asking for, but feel that it is due diligence in order to be good stewards of the children with which God has entrusted us. The background check is run only on the parent who would be attending our teaching day. It is a criminal history background check only.
8-Finally, if both you and the Steering Committee feel that In Grace is a good fit for your family, we can look forward to laboring shoulder to shoulder with you to bring glory to God by educating our children to the best of our ability.
That's it! If you have any questions about the process or are having problems downloading any of the forms, please contact us at: ingraceinfo@gmail.com.
